Stirling K. "Ken" DeArvil
(September 23, 1940 - August 24, 2016)

Stirling K. “Ken” DeArvil, 75, longtime Oregon resident, died Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at KSB Hospital, Dixon. Born September 23, 1940 in Dixon, the son of Murray and Ann (Miller) DeArvil. He was a 1958 graduate of Dixon High School and served in the US Marine Corp.

Married to Sandra Curtis January 3, 1960 in Oregon; she died November 3, 1998. Then married Sharon Needham June 26, 2004 in Oregon. Ken was employed as a corporate transportation manager for Swift for 20 years, retiring in 1980;then sold semi-trucks for Rockford Truck Sales until 2002; then employed as traffic manager for Leek Trucking in Rockford until 2006.

He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Oregon and actively involved with Blackhawk Area Boy Scouts where he was awarded the Order of the Arrow. Ken enjoyed woodworking, duck hunting, fishing, and his grandchildren and their sporting events. Survived by his wife, Sharon DeArvil of Oregon; daughters: Kelly (Dave) Brooks of Winnebago and Marcy (Bob) Egyed of Oregon; grandchildren: Rob Brooks, Michael Brooks, Laura (Evan) Sanford, Jake DeArvil, John DeArvil, Ellie Egyed and Kaitlyn Egyed; great grandchildren, Kennadi and Owen; brother, Robert (Elizabeth) DeArvil of Oregon; sister, Kathy (Don) Hess of Dixon; half-brother, Royal “Bud” DeArvil; half-sisters: Kim, Cindy, Shelly, Pam, Dayle and Michelle; and brother-in-law, Steve (Rose) Curtis.

Also predeceased by his parents and son, Tom DeArvil. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am Monday August 29 in St. Paul Lutheran Church, Oregon with Pastor Rich Tomlinson officiating. Burial in Daysville Cemetery. Visitation Sunday 3:00-5:00pm in Farrell-Holland-Gale Funeral Home, Oregon. A memorial fund has been established.
