Lyle W. Huffman
(November 9, 1940 - June 5, 2022)

Lyle W. Huffman, 81, of Dixon, passed away on Sunday, June 5, 2022, at his home in Dixon, IL. He endured four years of cancer, in the same manner he lived his life, with strength and courage.

Lyle was born November 9, 1940, in Dixon, IL, the son of Harold and Lena (Wright) Huffman. He married Marilyn Huyett on July 9, 1986, in Las Vegas, NV. He owned and operated Huffman Car Wash for 54 years and was an innovator at heart, always researching or designing new elements for the car wash. Lyle was a lifelong resident of Dixon and was active in many local Clubs and projects. He was a member of St. Anne Catholic Church. Lyle proudly served as a Sergeant in the United States Army at Fort Lewis in Washington from 1963 to 1965. Lyle enjoyed golfing, riding his bicycle, growing tomatoes, and attending car shows.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Marilyn Huffman; three children, Dawn Huffman of Glendale, AZ, Gregory (Heather) Huffman of Lee Summit, MO, Brad (Kristy) Huffman of Dixon, and three stepchildren, Douglas (Terry) Stouffer of Clinton, IA, Lori (Doug Dietz) James of Winnetka, IL, Kimberly (Matthew) Birmingham of Lake Zurich, IL; thirteen grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Phyllis Huffman of Dixon; along with many nieces and nephews.

Lyle was preceded in death by his parents; one infant daughter, Deborah Huffman; and three siblings, Eileen (Huffman) Glenn, Bruce Huffman, and Graham Huffman.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 11, 2022, at St. Anne Catholic Church in Dixon, IL, with Father Timothy Draper, officiating. The burial of cremated remains will be held at a later date. Cremation rites will be accorded.

The family would like to express their appreciation to Lyle’s friends, Carwash Family, and Serenity Hospice and Home, in Oregon, for their love and support. In keeping with Lyle’s wishes, there will be no visitation. Memorials may be directed to the Veterans Memorial Park in Dixon, IL.
